It’s a Circus!

When I met with Lisa over a year ago, she had the vision of a vintage circus theme for her wedding.  At our first meeting she brought out elephants, tickets, popcorn buckets and a lot of circus trinkets.

The trick to creating such an elaborate theme was to not overwhelm the venue and guests with too much “stuff”.   After many meetings and much discussion we decided to have two types of centerpieces, one that would consist of a collection of vintage glass vases filled with a variety of red, white and gold flowers and the other would be a centerpiece focusing on tickets and the collection of elephants Lisa’s family had been acquiring over time.

Lisa and her family spent quite a bit of time making pinwheels out of vintage papers that would be used in the decor.  Pinwheels were placed throughout the venue – on the tables, picture board, cake table and candy bar.

We also had the pleasure of working with Daniel.   Daniel is an incredibly talented young man who did the photo booth for the evening and provided a lot of signage to be placed throughout the event.  He provided a box full of hats, scarves and signage for guests to hold.

You can’t go wrong with the “Hearts” rose, one of my all time favorites that adds dimension and a beautiful red color.  Lisa’s cascading bouquet consisted of roses, calla lilies, orchids, spray roses, fern curl, white peonies and touches of feathers to the bouquet to match the feathers in Lisa’s dress.  Bridesmaids carried small bouquets of the “Hearts” rose and red spray roses.

We opted to place two large arrangements at the end of the aisle instead of having an “alter” arrangement.

Instead of having a traditional cake cutting ceremony Lisa and Garret had a small cake which was wheeled out on a tea decorated for the occasion.   Lisa found a small hat which she asked me to embellish for using on the top of the cake.  In my studio I found some “Love” tickets that I placed on the hat with a pearl pin, red silk ribbon and small black feather.    A black candelabra, black feather boa, collection of candlesticks, pinwheels and a special bottle of champagne completed the table decorations.

The Vintage Circus theme Lisa chose for her wedding was so much fun to work with.   It was a delight working with Lisa and her family to pull it all together and make it the wedding she had dreamed of.
