In the Desert

27 Oct

Wow, what a crazy summer it has been!  I have been so busy, I have not had time to post any of events for some time and thought now the busy wedding season is over, I could finally catch up on some much overdue blogging.

Back in January I attended a web-site design class and had the honor of meeting two fabulous photographers – Nicole Conner of Nicole Conner Photography and Miguel Cornelio of Momentus Images.  When I found out they were both from Wenatchee, Washington – the town I lived in during my teen years, I had to introduce myself.  Turns out Miguel lives not too far from where I now live!  When they reached out and asked me to provide florals for a photo shoot they were planning in May, of course I happily obliged.  These two are amazing photographers and it was such a pleasure working with them. They gave me the freedom to create with a soft color pallet being my only guideline.  Of course, I had to add a little pop of color into the mix!  May is such an amazing time for flowers with peonies and double tulips in abundance – you just can’t go wrong.  Sadly, I could not be there for the shoot, but I just love how the pictures turned out.

As with any photo shoot – it really takes a village to pull it all together.  These amazing vendors really brought it all together.

Love at the Winery

11 Sep

Now that the crazy wedding rush of summer is over, I finally get a chance to share some of the many wonderful weddings I worked on this spring and summer.

On a beautiful sunny day in May Amy and Rodney were married at DeLille Cellars Chateau in Woodinville Washington.  DeLille Cellars is a venue filled with rustic charm influenced by French architecture.  The ten acre estate has beautiful gardens, ponds and alpacas peering over the fence nearby.

I loved working with Amy and Rodney creating their dream wedding.  Did I mention the most they had the most adorable ring-bearers ever?

Thank you Brittany of Blue Rose Photography for the beautiful pictures below.

Farm Wedding

14 Jul

The Star Valley Farm is a private 5-star facility specializing in dressage training and instruction located in Longbranch, WA on the beautiful Key Peninsula – just minutes southwest of Gig Harbor.  It also happened to be the venue for Amy and Nick’s wedding back in May.

When I first visited the farm, there was a lot of work that needed to be done in the areas Amy and Nick chose to have their ceremony, but with the help of their wedding party and some dedicated friends, they created a lovely setting for the big day.

In addition to getting the farm ready for the big day, the groom also built the boxes used for the centerpieces as well as some tack boxes for the bridesmaids, all who are equestrian enthusiasts.  Who doesn’t appreciate a groom that is handy and willing to build things for his bride?

Peonies, poppy pods, succulents, roses, stock and football mums in shades of white, peach and blush were used in creating the bouquets and centerpieces.  The ceremony was performed under two very large oak trees from which we hung wreaths decorated with clusters of flowers in varying sizes while guests sat on bales of hay.

Below are some of the pictures taken by the very talented BreeAnna Lasher of ElevenEleven Films.

Roche Harbor Wedding

9 Apr

I have to tell you, Melinda and Casey have been one of my all time favorite couples to work with.  Not only are they two of the nicest people you will ever meet, but there is something about the love they share for each other that just radiates.  Their wedding was held last September at the beautiful Roche Harbor Resort in the San Juan Islands.  With outdoor weddings, you never know how the weather will be here in the Pacific Northwest, but we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day of warm temperatures and sunshine.

Casey is a fabulous chef and for the rehearsal dinner he and his fellow associates put together one of the most amazing rehearsal dinners I have ever had.  If you ever need a caterer, check out his web-site at www.barnandfield.com, he creates really amazing food.  The dinner was held at the beach adjacent to the resort followed by a beautiful sunset.  Guests enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making ‘smores by the campfire.  It was a great way to set the mood for the wedding the next day.

Melinda had a lot of ideas for the overall feel of the wedding design, yet was open to any suggestions I made.  She also allowed a lot of creative freedom when it came to designing their wedding and all the little details, the result being one of my favorite weddings.

The bridesmaids wore slate grey dresses complimented by flowers in shades of blush, pink, coral and white used to create the bouquets.  Did I mention they had the most adorable ring bearer ever (who just happens to be our great nephew)?  He surprised everyone by walking very carefully down the aisle with a ring box designed just for Melinda and Casey.

For ceremony decor, we rented a birch arbor and glass globes from Vintage Ambiance.  The globes were filled with simple clusters of flowers and hung from the arbor.  With the backdrop of the harbor and the approaching dusk, it set the stage for a beautiful ceremony.   Posters made by Citalia Creative greeted guests at the entrance as well as the reception area.  My husband and I also made directional signs leading to the ceremony.  Photographs are taken by the fabulous team of Rick + Anna Photography and, as always, they captured the day perfectly.

The reception area was decorated with blush colored linens rented from BBJ Linens, with floral centerpieces in mercury glass vases and tall trumpet vases placed on wood discs with touches of moss at the base and surrounded by a variety of mercury glass votives.  Sequined blush colored linens were used for the sweetheart and cake tables.

In honor of Casey’s chef background, guests were all given vials of Himilayian Pink Salt, Black Hawaiian Salt and Kosher Salt in a packet with a sprig of fresh rosemary attached to each package.

We rented a crystal chandelier from Vintage Ambiance and hung it from the beams in the dining area.  Seeing that the chandelier would get lost if we didn’t decorate it a little, I created a garland of greens, flowers and curly willow to accent the beams.  The standard white folding chairs provided by the resort really didn’t work with the overall look and feel we were trying to achieve, so vintage farm style chairs were rented from Orcas Events.

The large fireplace was a perfect spot to place a collection of mercury glass votives and candle holders as well as rustic lanterns and floating candles which were placed on wood discs with touches of moss at the base.  All the sparking candlelight added a very romantic touch to the room.

Turquoise and Pink

17 Feb

Sometimes when I meet with a bride at our initial consultation, she has tons of ideas and isn’t sure how to make them all work.  This bride, however, was one who pulled out all the stops when it came to details big and small and making it all come together.  Turquoise tennis shoes, a turquoise truck, custom mailbox, hand made signage, a swing made special for the bride and groom, custom forks for the cake, sparklers, and even a turquoise typewriter!  She really made her color pallet of pink and turquoise come together using a variety of elements.  I can’t even begin to list all the details, but you can see some of them below.

Britta and Zach were married on a warm sunny day in September at the beautiful Twin Willow Gardens in Snohomish.  The venue is absolutely lovely, complete with a forest glen for the ceremony, ponds, and gardens throughout.  Their photographer described the venue as “Little Narnia”, and I couldn’t agree more.

Speaking of photography, these stunning photos were taken by the extremely talented and amazing Katleyn James  from Virginia.  I love all the details she took the time to capture.  Check out her blog to see more of Britta and Zach’s wedding – http://katelynjamesblog.com/seattle-wedding-photographer-rustic-outdoor-wedding-venue/.

Oh what fun it was to decorate the iron arbor.  I always love doing large ceremony pieces, and this was no exception – I could have worked all day!  Hydrangeas, snapdragons, dahlias, roses and greenery galore!  Could it be in a prettier setting than this forest glen?

The brides bouquet was a combination of garden, standard and spray roses in shades of white, pale pink and bright pink paired with locally grown pink and white dahlias.  To complete the look, lace from the brides mother’s wedding gown was used to wrap the bouquet and charms of grandparents were attached with a satin ribbon.  The final detail was a vintage broach of her grandmothers.  It comes as no surprise that the bride wore turquoise shoes when she walked down the aisle and changed into turquoise Converse tennis shoes just for dancing!

To add a little variety, a pop of bright green was added to the centerpieces which were placed upon vintage holders.

Who wouldn’t love a getaway truck, especially if it was a bright turquoise blue one decorated with pink and turquoise tin cans!   Oh and the sparklers I mentioned earlier…

As always, I provided a complimentary bottle of champagne for the bride and groom to enjoy.  What a pleasure it was working with this couple.  Thank you Britta and Zach and thank you Katelyn James for the stunning photography!

Meagan and Jeremy

28 Jan

Meagan and Jeremy were married on a hot August day at the beautiful Sanders Estates in Auburn, Washington.  Meagan chose a color pallet of yellow and gray for her wedding, but wanted to add some more color to the floral arrangements.  Together we chose to add pops of bright pink and orange to make the floral arrangements a little more unique.

Sanders Estates is a beautiful 35 acre which includes a private lake and beautiful gardens.  The ceremony was held in the garden complete with an arbor covered in wisteria vines.  Glass globes filled with small floral clusters were hung from the arbor at varying heights to create a the alter decor.

The groom spent many hours cutting the tops and bottoms off wine bottles which we used for the centerpiece arrangements.  The arrangements were set on clusters of moss to add additional color to the table.

Hot Pink and Navy

7 Oct

Back in June I had the pleasure of working with Martina and Dan on their wedding.   I loved their color pallette of bright pink, navy and gray.   The peonies were in full bloom and I was able to get some stunning pink and blush peonies.  In addition to peonies the brides bouquet contained garden roses, snapdragon and Phalaenopsis orchids which I wrapped using soft white ribbon and a rosary provided by the bride.

The wedding was held at Immaculate Conception Church on Capitol with the reception following at the Four Seasons in downtown Seattle overlooking Puget Sound.
